Overview Headline
ControlSEAL is a high-performance two-part epoxy resin developed for long term high differential pressure integrity repair in oil and gas wells. Designed to seal leaks and abandon problematic zones in a wide range of oil field environments.
As the industry’s leading cement alternative sealant, ControlSEAL provides the most durable mechanical strength, highest adhesion force, best differential pressure management, and unmatched resistance to chemical degradation when compared to polymers in this field.
This technology is not intended to replace conventional or squeeze cementing but offers a long-term barrier solution when cement success is unlikely or proven ineffective. This is most common when small or difficult to access leak paths compromise well integrity.
Common uses:
- Seal communication paths associated with Sustained Casing Pressure
- Zonal abandonment (Water Shut Off, Increase Injection Efficiency, etc.)
- Casing / Annular Leaks (Stage Collars, Packer/Connection, LOT/FIT, Perforations)
Advantage
ControlSEAL has been chemically cataloged for optimum performance over a wide range of downhole conditions. Intelligent packaging, which includes pre-mixed ‘kit’ volumes in 4 bbl increments, and independently packaged hardener components allow for ‘ship upon request’ response time, eliminating the delays associated with design testing. Coupling this with basin critical deployment facilities allows Superior Energy Services to ensure that you receive the industry’s leading sealing technology to your well site with unrivaled expediency.
Operational Details: Field Logistics
- ControlSEAL materials consists of four individually packaged components
- Base Resin (liquid, shipped in 250-gal plastic chemical totes)
- Solid Agents (solid, shipped in 50# sks)
- Hardener Components (liquid, shipped in 5 gal pails)
- Cleaning Solution (liquid, shipped in 250- gal plastic chemical totes)
- Mixing & pumping equipment.
- Conventional cement mixing type equipment is most used. Consideration must be made regarding volume of specific treatment. (< 8 bbls can usually be mixed in the mixing package of a cement pump truck/unit, > 8 bbls often requires a paddle agitated batch mixer for preparation).
- Placement Techniques Include.
- Coiled Tubing
- Annular Casing Valve
- Injection
- Dump Bailer
- ROV Injection
- Gravity Feed
- Clean Up & Disposal.
- Circulate all resin utilized surface equipment with cleaning solution for 30 min.
- Operator/Client is responsible for the disposal of all unused, residual, and packaging components following treatment. Disclaimer
